welcome

"Africana Studies and Alpha Kappa Alpha: Bridging the Racial Digital Divide" is a partnership between Pi Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, The Department of African American Studies at The College of New Jersey , and the Willingboro NJ Public Library. This six-part Public Humanities Program is funded by grants awarded to Alpha Kappa Alpha and TCNJ by the National Council for Black Studies and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation. It's goal is to inform the community about recent digital resources in African and Diaspora Studies and the tools available to evaluate whether or not web-based resources are reliable. The project is particularly geared toward helping students become familiar with the array of resources avaialble, and the standards that must be met if digital resources are to be used for academic work.

Topics being discussed include, but are not limited to: African American and Afro-European history and culture, the 50th Anniversary of the Brown v. BOE Supreme Court decisions, African and Diaspora foodways, Black women writers and Africana Arts.
