She also served as Director of the Livingston College Writing Center from July 2000- June 2001. Professor Kendrix-Williams, who holds a BA in English from Spelman College and an M.A. and Ph.D. in English from Rutgers , has published in the fields of African American, African and Caribbean literature, with emphases on the works of black women writers. She was Contributing Editor for two Chelsea House Publishers’ works- Jamaica Kincaid, in “Modern Critical Views” series, 1998 and . Caribbean Women Writers, “Women Writers of English and their Works” series, 1997. She has also written about and conducted workshops on, pedagogies and best-practices for teaching writing at the college level.. Kendrix-Williams is an award-winning scholar whose 2002 dissertation, “‘Looking for what was before’: Disrupting Maps of the African Diaspora in Black Women’s Writing” is now under contract for publication. Her work on black women writers is both thought-provoking and innovative.
